Ervana Trikarinaputri, Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto has dismissed analysis suggesting a rift within his Red and White Cabinet. He asserted that the cabinet remains solid and unified.
"Do not believe people who are too smart on social media who analyze that there is a division within my circle," the Head of State remarked during the inauguration of 166 People's Schools in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Prabowo admitted that such analyses are interesting but emphasized that there is no conflict within his government. "It is interesting; even I find it intriguing. Where is this coming from? But it isn't true. I feel the hard work and the coherence," he said.
According to Prabowo, this unity is evidenced by the cabinet's achievements. He highlighted the milestone of rice self-sufficiency reached at the end of 2025. The Gerindra Party Chief Patron claimed that Indonesia officially became self-sufficient in rice as of December 31, 2025.
He noted that the country achieved this despite the El Nino phenomenon and prolonged droughts throughout 2024 and 2025. "We overcame it and achieved the highest rice production in the history of the Republic of Indonesia. Our national rice reserves in government warehouses are currently at record highs," he stated.
Looking forward, Prabowo set targets for Indonesia to achieve self-sufficiency in other sectors. He also cited the inauguration of 166 People's Schools operating across 34 provinces as a testament to his cabinet's success. "Today, we successfully inaugurated 166 schools. Our target is to have 500 People's Schools by 2029," he added.
More than 150 of these school sites began phased operations in 2025: 60 sites opened in July, followed by 37 in August, and 66 in late September and early October.
These schools are spread across 34 provinces and 131 regencies and cities. In total, the 166 schools accommodate 15,954 students, supported by 2,218 teachers and 4,889 educational staff. Meanwhile, the government plans to continue the second stage of construction for People's Schools in 104 locations across the country, designed to accommodate 112,320 students across 3,744 study groups.
