Dede Leni Mardianti, Jakarta – The House of Representatives (DPR) leadership has decided to scrap several benefits for its members following an internal meeting on Thursday, September 4, 2025. The decision includes ending the monthly housing allowance and imposing a moratorium on overseas trips.
"Starting August 31, 2025, the DPR has agreed to terminate housing allowances for its members," Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad announced at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Friday, September 5, 2025.
In the current 2024-2025 term, lawmakers were entitled to a housing allowance of Rp50 million per month, granted as compensation for the lack of official residences. Alongside the cut, legislative leaders also agreed to slash a range of other perks, such as electricity and telephone subsidies, intensive communication fees, and transportation allowances.
According to the official decision letter, signed by Speaker Puan Maharani along with her three deputies Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Saan Mustofa, and Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, the cuts were made following a joint consultation between DPR leaders and faction chiefs.
"The DPR will trim allowances and facilities for members after a thorough evaluation," the document stated.
The letter, which was released to the media, also included a detailed breakdown of lawmakers' compensation. Below is the list of DPR members' entitlements:
Basic salary and position allowances
- Basic salary: Rp4,200,000
- Spouse allowance: Rp420,000
- Child allowance: Rp168,000
- Position allowance: Rp9,700,000
- Rice allowance: Rp289,680
- Monthly session package: Rp2,000,000
- Total salary and allowances: Rp16,777,680
Constitutional allowances
- Intensive communication with the public: Rp20,033,000
- Honorarium for DPR members: Rp7,187,000
- Supervision and budget implementation allowance: Rp4,830,000
- Legislative function honorarium: Rp8,461,000
- Supervision function honorarium: Rp8,461,000
- Budget function honorarium: Rp8,461,000
- Total constitutional allowances: Rp57,433,000
- Gross income: Rp74,210,680
- Income tax (15%): Rp8,614,950
- Take-home pay: Rp65,595,730
