Alfitria Nefi P, Jakarta – The Editor-in-Chief of Tempo, Setri Yasra, expresses gratitude to fellow media, civil society coalitions, and various parties for their support amidst the recent acts of terror directed at the Tempo editorial office. According to Yasra, the solidarity of various groups has enabled Tempo to endure difficult times.
"We at Tempo express our immense gratitude. The solidarity and support from friends are very meaningful to us," said Setri during a press conference held online by the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
Setri stated that the two recent acts of terror are a form of intimidation towards Tempo's journalism work. However, he assures that the terror acts have not disturbed Tempo's work.
According to him, Tempo has often been targeted by acts of terror. However, these recent terror acts are acknowledged to have employed quite different methods. "This terror act is somewhat different as it involved the sending of animal remains," he said.
As known, Tempo received a second package containing the severed remains of rats. The cleaning staff found a cardboard box containing six rat carcasses on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 08:00 AM local time.
