Dede Leni Mardiant, Jakarta – Gunfire engagement between a group calling themselves the West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Movement (TPNPB-OPM) and the Indonesian National Army (TNI) occurred again in Lanny Jaya, Papua Mountains, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

The spokesperson for TPNPB-OPM, Sebby Sambom, claimed that the group had shot 2 TNI members. OPM also seized their firearms. The identities of the two TNI members who were shot dead are not yet known.

"We are ready to take responsibility for the shooting of two Indonesian military personnel," said Sebby in his official statement on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

The shooting was carried out by the OPM military group under the command of Major General Lekagak Telenggen. Sebby requested that security forces refrain from arresting or shooting civilian Papuans.

OPM also claimed that on the same day, the Indonesian military had shot dead a TPNPB member. This shooting occurred in the Yambi region on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 PM local time.

"Shot in the name of Miyon Telenggen until falling," he said.

Sebby stated that the firearms of the TNI members who were shot in Lanny Jaya are now in possession of the TPNPB forces. He allowed the Indonesian soldiers to visit the central headquarters of the TPNPB-OPM Commission if they wished to retrieve the weapons.

"The troops are ready to serve you while on the way to the headquarters," said Sebby.
