Jakarta – The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD Jakarta) has reported that 51 neighborhood units (RT) across the city are submerged in floodwaters today, November 28. The situation is particularly severe in certain areas, with water levels reaching 2.6 meters.

"In Rawajati Sub-district, South Jakarta, seven RT are experiencing flooding with water levels ranging from 50 to 260 centimeters, due to the overflow of the Ciliwung River," said Isnawa Adji, Head of BPBD Jakarta in a written statement on Thursday.

South Jakarta's Tanjung Barat Sub-district has also been affected, with one RT inundated by 40 centimeters of water, again caused by heavy rainfall and the overflowing Ciliwung River.

Additionally, East Pejaten Sub-district has five neighborhoods submerged with water levels ranging from 1.5 to 2.3 meters, while Kebon Baru Sub-district has two neighborhoods with water levels between 50 and 90 centimeters.

In East Jakarta, the impact is widespread, with 46 RT facing flooding. Bidara Cina Sub-district has 13 flooded RT, Kampung Melayu Sub-district has 29, Balekambang Sub-district has 1, Cawang Sub-district has 2, and Cililitan Sub-district has 1. Water levels in these areas range from 30 centimeters to 2.5 meters, primarily attributed to the overflowing Ciliwung River.

"16 people have been evacuated to the RW (community unit) 11 Post in Bidara Cina Sub-district," Isnawa added.

BPBD Jakarta has deployed personnel to the affected areas and is collaborating with other agencies to address the floods. Efforts are underway to accelerate the receding of floodwaters.
