Yustinus Paat, Jakarta – Leaders from neighboring countries gathered at the national legislature complex in Jakarta on Sunday morning to attend the inauguration of Prabowo Subianto as Indonesia's eighth president.
Among the attendees were Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, and Timor-Leste's Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao, all of whom arrived in Indonesia on Saturday ahead of the ceremony.
Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong arrived at the airport earlier on Sunday for a two-day visit to Indonesia. Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, and Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape were also seen among the dignitaries.
Other international leaders at the event included Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, Vanuatu Prime Minister Charlot Salwai Tabimasmas, and Solomon Islands Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele.
China was represented by Vice President Han Zheng, while New Zealand's Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters and Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles attended on behalf of their governments.
The United Kingdom sent Foreign Minister David Lammy while the US government appointed Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield.
Additional prominent foreign dignitaries included Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Qatari Deputy Prime Minister Khalid bin Mohamed Al-Attiyah, Laotian Vice President Pany Yathotou, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, and former German President Christian Wuff.
People's Consultative Assembly Speaker Ahmad Muzani earlier confirmed that representatives from 33 countries would be present at the inauguration ceremony.
