Yustinus Paat, Jakarta – The House of Representatives (DPR) passed 225 drafts into laws during its 2019-2024 term, a significant increase compared to the 91 laws passed by the 2014-2019 parliament.
"During the 2019-2024 period, the DPR completed 225 drafts to laws, including 48 from the National Legislation Program (Prolegnas), 177 open cumulative amendments, and five amendments that were not further pursued," Puan said during the final plenary session held on Monday at the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta.
Among the significant laws passed were those on the 2025-2045 National Long-Term Development Plan, Immigration, State Ministries, Job Creation, and Health.
Puan emphasized the DPR's use of the omnibus law method, which integrates changes across multiple laws to streamline the legislative process. She also noted that the law-making process is a collaborative effort between the DPR and the government, showing their commitment to the legislative agenda.
Puan urged the next DPR (2024-2029) to consider feedback and ensure that law-making adheres to formal procedures while incorporating public participation.
"By following formal legal requirements and encouraging meaningful public participation, we can ensure that laws are of high quality and serve the nation's interests," she concluded.
