Antara, Jakarta – Hanny Nilasari, the General Secretary of the Indonesian Association of Dermatologists and Venereologists (Perdoski), highlighted the high demand for skincare products containing whitening agents in Indonesia.
"Whitening products are highly sought after because our skin tends to be slightly darker. Consequently, many Indonesians seek out products with whitening agents," remarked Hanny during a recent discussion.
She elaborated that skincare formulations with whitening agents have gained popularity among Indonesians. Nevertheless, Hanny emphasized that achieving skin radiance can be accomplished through appropriate skincare practices.
Moreover, she underscored that maintaining skin moisture and brightness can naturally originate from proper skincare routines. Hence, the excessive use of medications or skincare products is unnecessary.
Hanny said skincare with whitening properties may be particularly beneficial for addressing specific conditions like dark spots, which may not respond to regular skincare products.
However, she cautioned against the excessive use of whitening skincare products, as it could potentially trigger skin issues if the ingredients are unsuitable for the skin's condition, especially when utilizing counterfeit products available online.
"Symptoms such as redness, which may progress to dark spots, can emerge. Individuals often seek dermatological assistance when their skin darkens significantly or exhibits redness, acne, or cracking," she explained.
Recognizing signs that indicate skincare products are incompatible with the skin is crucial, as they can lead to itching, stinging, burning, and redness.
Hanny also stressed the significance of double cleansing to achieve clean and healthy skin, particularly for individuals residing in regions with high humidity and pollution levels.
