Defara, Sultan Abdurrahman, Jakarta – President-elect Prabowo Subianto hoped that all workers would see remarkable progress and attain greater prosperity. He delivered this message through a video statement coinciding with International Labor Day, which falls every May commemorated annually on May 1.
In the video, Prabowo, who currently serves as the defense minister, donned a blue shirt in his office. "I wish you a happy Labor Day, on May 1, 2024. I hope that all workers in Indonesia and their extended family will become more progressive, prosperous, and united for a Golden Indonesia," he said.
The Gerindra Party chief patron also invited all people, including workers, to contribute to the creation of a brighter future by realizing the national vision of Golden Indonesia.
"Let's build a better future for all Indonesian citizens, workers, laborers, and their families," he added, hoping that future generations will experience a better Indonesia.
May Day rally
Previously, the Labor Party urged Prabowo to consider workers' demands when drafting policies. The party's chairman and President of the Confederation of Indonesian Labor Unions (KSPI), Said Iqbal, recommended that Prabowo start listening to the laborers' demands voiced during today's Labor Day rally.
Iqbal highlighted two primary issues that would be raised in this year's rally; the repeal of the Omnibus Law on the Job Creation and the rejection of outsourcing and low wages.
"With the momentum of International Labor Day, the Labor Party and KSPI hope that the President-elect, General (Ret.) Prabowo Subianto, will pay attention to these two main issues in his policy-making," Said asserted in a written statement on Friday, April 26.
