Achmad Nasrudin Yahya, Jakarta – As many as 50,000 workers from Jakarta and the satellite cities of Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) will commemorate "May Day" or International Labor Day near the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Wednesday May 1.

Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) President Said Iqbal said that the tens of thousands of workers will hold the action in the vicinity of the State Palace between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm.

"After that, at 12:30 pm the 50,000 workers will move from the Palace to the Senayan Sports Arena to celebrate the May Day Fiesta", said Iqbal in a press release on Monday April 29.

Iqbal explained that May Day actions this year will also be held simultaneously throughout Indonesia and involve hundreds of thousands of workers in total.

The regions that will hold actions include Serang, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Jogjakarta, Batam, Medan, Banda Aceh, Palembang, Padang, Bengkuku, and Pekanbaru.

Then Jambi, Lampung, Banjarmasin, Palangkaraya, Samarinda, Pontianak, Makassar, Konawe, Morowali, Gorontalo, Ambon, Ternate, Jayapura, Mimika, Lani Jaya and Tolikara.

There are two main issues that will be taken up during the actions. First revoking Law Number 11/2020 on Job Creation (the Omnibus Law on Job Creation) and second Hostum, which is an abbreviation of "Abolish Outsourcing and Reject Low Wages".

Through the momentum of this year's International Labour Day, Iqbal hopes that president elect Prabowo Subianto's future policies will pay attention to these two main issues.

"The Labor Party and KSPI welcome and agree with the determination of the KPU [General Elections Commission] which has had officially declared that Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka are the president and the vice president of the Republic of Indonesia who would be inaugurated in October 2024", asserted Iqbal, who is also the president of the Labor Party.
