Jakarta (Agencies) – The Constitutional Court on Monday rejected in full a challenge from losing candidate Ganjar Pranowo seeking a re-run of February's presidential election and the disqualification of winner Prabowo Subianto, putting a legal end to election disputes.
Mirroring its rejection of the case launched by another losing candidate Anies Baswedan earlier on Monday, the Constitutional Court said there was no evidence the president or state bodies interfered in the election, nor that regional officials and social aid were mobilised to sway voters.
Earlier on Monday, the court also rejected in full a challenge from losing candidate Anies Baswedan, who sought a re-run of February's presidential election and the disqualification of winner Prabowo Subianto and his running mate.
The Court ruled that there was no evidence of systematic fraud and presidential "meddling", nor that state bodies, regional officials and social assistance had been mobilised to sway polls in the world's third-largest democracy.
"The plaintiff's petition has no legal basis in its entirety," said Chief Justice Suhartoyo, announcing the decision.
President-elect Prabowo's campaign was mired in allegations that outgoing President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, had interfered in a bid to boost Prabowo's campaign.
He was accused of engineering rule changes that allowed his eldest son Gibran Rakabuming Raka to run for vice president.
Anies – who received 24.9 percent of the vote – refused to concede after official results were announced, claiming the state had intervened to help Prabowo win and calling for a re-run.
He claimed the state had intervened to engineer Prabowo's win, including social aid donations to sway voters.
