Daniel A. Fajri, Jakarta – Member of the National Campaign Team (TKN) Advisory Council for Prabowo-Gibran, Budiman Sudjatmiko, stated that so far there has been no discussion regarding President Joko Widodo or Jokowi becoming a special advisor to the elected president, Prabowo Subianto. According to Budiman, the issue of position will be determined by Prabowo himself.
"I think Pak Jokowi has the capacity for it," said Budiman, who is also a former cadre of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), after a meeting at Prabowo's residence, Kertanegara 4 House, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
The idea of Jokowi becoming a special advisor to Prabowo was initially proposed by former PDIP politician Maruarar Sirait. The idea was forwarded by Maruarar during an iftar event and charity for orphans titled National Activists and Friends of Bang Ara (Maruarar's nickname) at The Acre on Hos Cokroaminoto Street, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
Maruarar mentioned that Prabowo must certainly be a complete President as a servant of the people – not a puppet of anyone. On that occasion, Maruarar stated the reason his volunteers support the Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair. This is because the number 02 pair will continue Jokowi's programs.
"Therefore, Jokowi will become a special advisor to the president and vice president," Maruarar said in his official statement on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
Budiman stated on Wednesday, April 10, that the proposal for Jokowi to become a special advisor to Prabowo may only be an aspiration from Ara. The TKN Advisory Council is still focused on the future government's substance, such as discussing several strategic issues with various stakeholders.
Jokowi will end his term on October 20, 2024, when Prabowo is inaugurated by the People's Consultative Assembly. The General Election Commission has declared Prabowo and Gibran Rakabuming Raka – Jokowi's son, as the winners of the 2024 Presidential Election.
However, currently, the camp of Anies Baswedan – Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganja Pranowo – Mahfud Md are filing a dispute over the results of the Presidential Election at the Constitutional Court or MK.
