Ichsan Ali, Jakarta – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo announced on Friday the government's ambitious initiative to employ 2.3 million civil servants this year, aiming to improve the quality of public services across the nation.
This massive recruitment drive includes 690,000 recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds, intending to integrate their expertise into both central and regional governmental agencies.
Addressing the press at the State Palace in Jakarta, Jokowi said the government's push for the digitalization of public services requires the participation of skilled young talents, who will also play a key role in augmenting the government's performance and accountability.
"The government is inviting fresh graduates to seize 690,000 new civil servant positions, with 207,000 openings available within central government agencies and 483,000 in regional government agencies," Jokowi said.
Furthermore, the administration aims to onboard 1.6 million part-time employees as civil servants through contractual arrangements. They are primarily employed as teachers, medical professionals, and technical staff at government-run facilities.
"We want their inclusion in bureaucratic reforms as a crucial step toward enhancing public service delivery," the president said.
