14, 2024., Jakarta – Political observer from Universitas Indonesia Aditya Perdana mentioned that presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo is likely to continue the development of Nusantara Capital City or IKN with a different approach.
"Ganjar of course has a different approach compared to Prabowo since he understood Jokowi's positioning," he said in a written statement on Friday.
According to the Executive Director of Algoritma, each of the candidates would employ a different approach to managing IKN. Whatever they do, whether to postpone the project or to entirely cancel it, is greatly influenced by their interest.
Even if Ganjar-Mahfud has declared publicly their support and commitment to continue IKN development, Aditya believed they are not entirely sold on the idea.
Especially since the running pair Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar already expressed their dissent on continuing IKN development. "From the running pair number 1 (Anies-Muhaimain) or 3 (Ganjar-Mahfud), they will both be critical, but it's uncertain in which way for running pair number 3 since he has a significant share in the [IKN]," he explained.
Earlier, Ganjar Pranowo emphasized his support for the development of IKN and his commitment to continue the project if elected. "IKN as a concept has been prepared event since [Soekarno's] administration as a plan to move the capital city elsewhere," he said when campaigning in IKN on Thursday.
The General Elections Commission or KPU on Nov. 28 announced the start of the presidential campaign on Feb. 10, 2024, four days before the election on Feb.
