Ervana Trikarinaputri, Jakarta – Indonesia's Gerindra Party has welcomed signals from two-term President Prabowo Subianto, with party leaders calling for support of a potential 2029 presidential run.
Ahmad Muzani, Chair of the Board of Honor of Gerindra, concluded his remarks at the party's 18th anniversary celebration by inviting members to chant, "Prabowo for two-term presidency."
At the event, held in the Pustakaloka Room of the Nusantara IV Building, DPR Complex, Muzani also thanked coalition parties for backing Prabowo's government.
"To the coalition parties, we express our thanks for the support to the government of Mr. Prabowo," he said on Friday, February 6, 2026.
Muzani expressed gratitude to members of the DPR from various factions who have supported government policies, urging continued backing for initiatives that benefit the country.
"If we believe that what the government is doing is good, support it. If we believe that what Mr. Prabowo is doing is good for Indonesia, continue to support it," he said.
He concluded his speech with a chant, leading the audience: "If I say 'Gerindra,' you answer 'Win.' If I say 'Prabowo,' you answer 'President.' 'President,' you answer 'Two terms.'" The chant was repeated, with members enthusiastically responding.
The remarks follow earlier signals from Prabowo about a possible 2029 presidential bid. During the National Coordination Meeting of the Central and Regional Governments, Prabowo emphasized political civility and urged critics to focus on healthy competition.
"If you don't like 2-3 people, don't ruin the entire nation. If you don't like Prabowo, please, compete in 2029 (election)," he said at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC) in Bogor Regency, West Java, on Monday, February 2, 2026.
