Maria Fransisca Lahur, Jakarta – The latest survey results conducted by pollsters Kantar and Ipsos found that YouTube is the most preferred video platform for Indonesian people aged 18-24 years, also known as Generation Z. The survey was released on Thursday, October 12, 2023.
Ajay Vidyasagar, Regional Director of YouTube Asia-Pacific, said Indonesian Gen Z have been familiar with mobile phones and internet connections since birth and show great enthusiasm for using YouTube. "We have seen extraordinary growth and interest in YouTube," Ajay said in Jakarta on Thursday.
He explained that YouTube is the top choice of the first generation of digital natives as its format allows them to access a wide variety of content in one place, such as short, long, or live videos. Apart from that, YouTube is seen as having a more complete and in-depth collection of content, allowing them to dig deeper into the topics they like and use their time more effectively than on other video platforms.
The two studies also found that YouTube is a video-sharing platform that can combine advertising with content without disrupting the user experience. As a result, it successfully builds credibility between brands and their audiences and delivers real business outcomes.
Kantar, the London-based data company, said the survey was conducted online for 15 minutes with more than 2,000-3,000 respondents being Gen Pop Online Video Viewers aged 18 years and over. Respondents came from a variety of markets.
In Indonesia, the research was conducted among more than 2,204 weekly video viewers aged 18-64 years, including 607 of them being Gen Z viewers. Meanwhile, Ipsos conducted this survey on YouTube online involving 600 Indonesians aged 18-24 years.
