Moh Khory Alfarizi, Jakarta – On Sunday, the president of the Indonesian Trade Unions Confederation (KSPSI) Andi Gani Nena Wea said there will be roughly 50,000 labor workers who will take to the streets in Jakarta to commemorate the annual May Day rally or the International Labor Day.

"There will be 50 workers' unions and three of Indonesia's largest workers confederation," said Andi in Central Jakarta on April 30.

The three confederations are KSPSI, the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) led by Labor Party President Said Iqbal, and the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSBSI) led by Elly Rosita Silaban. "The three largest labor confederations will go all out on May Day," Andi said.

He elaborated that the workers' rally will start from Central Jakarta before continuing their march to Istora Senayan, meanwhile, thousands of others will join the May Day movement simultaneously across 38 provinces in Indonesia.

KSPSI president reasserted that union workers plan to use May Day to voice their concern and protest against cheap labor, union basting, rejecting the passing of the Job Creation Law, demanding more government attention for migrant workers, and calls to apprehend 'mafia' of human trafficking that has marred the Indonesian migrant workers scene.
