Antara, Jakarta – Gerindra Party on Wednesday responded to a survey that ranks Ganjar Pranowo above its Party chairperson and multiple past presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto. Gerindra secretary-general Ahmad Muzani said such a phenomenon is a normal occurrence ahead of electoral cycles.
"Surveys are common occurrences, ups and downs come and go, so for us, it is something normal. In the past, when Jokowi and Ahok were candidates for governor of Jakarta, when we carried them out with the PDI-P, the survey was also not high, but our strength with the team tried to fight for him and finally got them elected," said Muzani on October 26, Antaranews reported.
The secretary-general remains positive and argues that the Party has proven it multiple times and does not find survey results as certainty. "We are relaxed, not angry, please just say it in various surveys," he added.
The survey was conducted by pollster SMRC, which posted its results on Sunday, October 23, after simulating three notable political figures in Ganjar Pranowo, Prabowo Subianto, and Anies Baswedan. In this poll, Pranowo led with 32.1 percent electability.
Meanwhile, Prabowo scored 27.5 percent and Baswedan scored 26 percent, according to SMRC research director Deni Irvan.
