Bisnis.Com, Jakarta – The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) stated that it would block private sector electronic system organizers or PSE such as Netflix and Twitter on July 21, 2022, if they do not make a registration by July 20, 2022.
The Director-General of Applications and Informatics at the Kominfo Ministry Semuel A. Pangerapan said the registration obligation does not cause difficulties to electronic system organizers because they only need to register via the risk-based approach online single submission (OSS RBA) and follow the provided guidelines.
"PSE must register immediately, including large ones such as Google, Netflix, Twitter, Facebook, and others. The registration is done through the OSS RBA which has been prepared," said Semuel during a press conference on Monday, June 27, 2022.
He emphasized that if the domestic and foreign private PSE do not make a registration until July 20, 2022, they are considered illegal and will be blocked the next day or July 21, 2022.
According to him, the registration is an obligation, instead of a warning. Moreover, the government, or in this case the Kominfo Ministry has long announced the registration obligation.
"This has been announced since 2020 because it has become mandatory. Even if there is a warning, it will immediately be executed We're sorry if we have to block you. The deadline for the registration [of electronic system organizers] is July 20, [if they do not make it,] they'll be blocked on July 21," Semuel underlined.
