Bikini party? In Depok? Police weren't having it

Authorities are up in arms over what would be considered just a regular party in places like Bali, but is absolutely inappropriate in a city like Depok.

Early on Sunday morning, the Jakarta Metro Police raided what they described as a "bikini party" in an unassuming housing complex in the satellite city, which is known for its strong Islamic identity.

Armed with a warrant to raid an unlicensed entertainment venue, police dispersed some 200 guests – mostly young people – at the party, including the main draw of the event: women in swimsuits.

Cops also found alcoholic beverages and unused contraceptives (yay safe sex!), essentially making them huge cock blocks before the party even had the chance to get wild.

Not a single attendee subjected to urine tests for drug use produced a positive result.

After questioning the organizers of the event, police learned that they had rented a house for the day to hold the party. Guests, who came from Depok, Jakarta, and beyond, were charged between IDR300K (US$20.75) to IDR8 million (US$553) to enter, with the more expensive categories entitled to more party perks like alcohol.

A formal investigation into the alleged permit violation is still ongoing, but police have yet to file charges as of today.

The owner of the house said she "felt duped" as she wasn't notified that the renters were going to use her property to host a bikini party.
