News Desk, Jakarta – The Jakarta Post journalist Dian Septiari has won the Foreign Ministry's prestigious 2022 Adam Malik Award for Best Print Journalist for her writing on international news and matters related to Indonesian diplomacy.

The ministry announced six winners across different categories on Thursday, before Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi's annual foreign policy speech in Jakarta.

Other winners include Kompas daily for Best Newspaper, private news channel Metro TV for Best TV Station, public broadcaster RRI Pro 3 for Best Radio Station, private online media outlet medcom.id for Best Online News and Tribunnews.com reporter Larasati Dyah Utami for Best Online Journalist.

This is the second time Dian has won the award for Best Print Journalist after securing the title in 2020.

As a journalist for the Post, Dian wrote about Indonesia's diplomacy and its relations with partner countries, as well as regional affairs. This included articles on Indonesia's active role in responding to the Myanmar crisis and Afghanistan crisis, as well as its support of Palestine.

She joins a list of Post journalists who have been recognized with the award, which takes its name from a former journalist-turned-foreign minister.

Established on Jan. 16, 2002, the Adam Malik Awards recognizes the important role of the media in disseminating the nation's foreign policy accurately, objectively and informatively. Born in 1917, Adam Malik started his career as a journalist and founded Antara news agency. He was also foreign minister in 1966-1978 and vice president in 1978-1983.

In addition to awarding journalists and media companies, the Foreign Ministry also awarded its representatives abroad for their active role in the digital space with Social Media Awards. Indonesian Ambassadors to Lebanon Hajriyanto Thohari and Indonesian Ambassador to New Zealand Tantowi Yahya received the Digital Heads of Mission prize. Meanwhile, the social media accounts of Indonesian embassies in Islamabad, Singapore and London won in the best performance category.
