M Julnis Firmansyah, Jakarta – The Jakarta Metro Police on Friday has increased their efforts to further restrict community mobility after they found waves of workers of non-essential and non-critical sector starting to come to the offices amidst the level 4 public activity restriction (PPKM Level 4).
"We are reinforcing the checkpoints for STRP (workers' registration permit) due to the increased mobility," said Jakarta traffic police director, Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo on August 6.
One of the locations is along the Sudirman-Thamrin streets in Central Jakarta. Police established 100 inner-city checkpoints.
Checkpoint officers could be seen stopping road users, asking them to show their STRP before being allowed to continue their trip. A similar sight was seen at another busy junction in Senayan roundabout, Central Jakarta.
"Many were asked to turn around for not having an STRP. We didn't manage to count how many," said Sambodo.
The PPKM Level 4 status has been extended until Monday next week, August 9 due to the dynamic number of Covid-19 cases.
