Antara, Jakarta – The Indonesian Health Ministry's Covid-19 vaccination spokesperson Siti Nadia Tarmizi on Wednesday said the latest Google mobility report revealed a growing trend in community mobility in a number of provinces.

This has caused concerns from public health officials as it could increase public interactions and risk spreading the Covid-19 virus to a broader area amidst a steadily declining, albeit sluggish, number of cases logged in Java and Bali due to the PPKM Level 4 restriction.

"Some provinces have shown signs of growing cases, especially in the retail sector and transits which represent public mobility across places such as restaurants, cafes, shopping malls and so on," said Tarmizi in the ministry's latest press conference on August 4, Antaranews reported.

She encouraged business owners to strictly limit visitors' attendance and help the government cut the chain of coronavirus transmission through the enforcement of PPKM Level 4 and Level 3 restrictions.

The Health Ministry spokesperson also noted that the government's vaccination program must be accelerated and prioritize high-risk areas. "Our attempt to break the chain of transmissions from the downstream is critical to prevent a collapse of the healthcare system," she said.
