Dewi Nurita, Jakarta – The Indonesian Covid-19 task force in a statement on Wednesday announced the dropping bed occupancy ratio (BOR) across isolation facilities in the past two weeks, which they claim coincides with the reducing number of positive cases.

Wiku Adisasmito, task force spokesperson, said the dropping BOR and active cases has simultaneously happened across 14 Indonesian provinces such as Lampung, Riau Islands, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Banten, NTB, NTT, West Kalimantan, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku, and West Papua.

The capital city itself logged a 21.55 percent reduction of isolation bed occupants for the past week, which is followed by the province with 13 billion population, Banten.

"This achievement is truly appreciated because this means the regional governments are able to reduce the loads of healthcare workers stationed in hospitals for the past weeks," said Adisasmito in his release on August 4.

Meanwhile in the national scale, the weekly bed occupancy ratio that once reached 77.07 percent on July 11 is gradually reducing to 75.91 percent and has even dropped to 61.5 percent within the past week. The national active cases that logged 18.84 percent are now dropping to 15.55 percent as of August 1.

"The true reduction is evident in the BOR of the Wisma Atlet emergency hospital which currently has a 31.34 percent occupancy percentage," said the Covid-19 task force spokesman.

However, he noted that there is a rise in active cases and bed occupancy such as Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi.
