Antara, Jakarta – A number of restaurant owners have questioned the 20-minute dine-in time limit imposed in the public activity restrictions (PPKM) level 4, which is effective from July 26 and slated to end on August 2.

One of the complaints came from a restaurant owner in West Jakarta, Tuti (44), who said that limiting visitor attendance to 20 minutes was ineffective and would only hamper both business owners and customers. "It's a pity, people will eat in a hurry," she said Antaranews reported.

She believed restaurant owners would be disinclined to ask customers to leave once they exceed the 20-minute limit. Moreover, keeping track of the time spent by a customer amid busy lunch or dinner hours would be difficult, she added.

Another traditional restaurant owner, Mujiati (52), in East Jakarta region echoed Tuti's concerns, adding that imposing proper social distancing and face mask policies was enough to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"Physical distancing, wearing masks, and washing hands are enough," said Mujiati.

Both owners hoped the government would provide better solutions for restaurant owners and dine-in rules during the slackened PPKM policy.
