Imam Hamdi, Jakarta – The Jakarta Provincial Government has called on the public to stay vigilant against COVID-19 transmission at workplaces as the number of workers exposed to the virus from the office cluster increased throughout April.

"The trend of cases in the office cluster in the past week has increased," as quoted from the city's Instagram account @dkijakarta on Sunday, April 25, 2021.

The number of active cases from the office cluster reached 425 of 177 workplaces on April 12-18, while a week earlier on April 5-11, there were only 157 positive cases of 78 offices.

Besides, most of the positive cases found were of workplaces that have received vaccinations. "Even though they have been vaccinated, it does not mean they will be 100 percent protected from COVID-19 infections."

The vaccination only reduces the possibility of severe symptoms and complications due to the virus, but the virus remains transmissible. Thus, complying with the predetermined health protocols is necessary to curb cases.

"Let's protect each other, ourselves, and those around us by carrying out the 5M (health protocols) with high discipline in order to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission," the city posted.
