M Rosseno Aji, Jakarta – The Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) announced that it had sent a letter to President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on Friday, October 23, asking the President to discharge Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin.
"ICW has sent a letter to President Joko Widodo, asking the President to discharge ST Burhanudin from his position," wrote ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana in a written statement on October 23.
According to Kurnia, the ICW the Attorney General's Office (AGO) had shown poor performance under ST Burhanuddin, particularly relative to the handling of several major cases, such as those involving Bank Bali, Djoko Tjandra, and prosecutor Pinangki Sirna Malasari.
The ICW also suspected that the AGO was attempting to protect Pinangki Sirna Malasari from legal consequences. Kurnia Ramadhana believed the AGO had not coordinated with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in handling Pinangki's case.
