Antara, Jakarta – The occupancy rate of ICU or intensive care unit beds in 67 Covid-19 referral hospitals in Jakarta has reached 71 percent as of Sunday, August 23.
"Based on the latest data on August 23, 71 percent of the total 483 ICU beds prepared in 67 hospitals are occupied," said the city's disease prevention and control head, Dwi Oktavia, in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 25.
This means, the available ICU beds as of Sunday, August 23, were only 140.
The occupancy rate of isolation beds in the city's Covid-19 referral hospitals also reached 64 percent of the total capacity of 4,456 beds.
Dwi reiterated that the current number of active cases of pneumonia caused by Covid-19 in the capital city increased to 7,816 patients from 7,720 patients.
As of Tuesday, August 25, Jakarta recorded 34,931 confirmed Covid-19 cases, up from the previous day's 34,295. Of which, 25,986 patients have made full recovery, while 1,129 patients succumbed to the illness.
The city's recovery rate then slightly increased from 74.2 percent to 74.4 percent, and the mortality rate was at 3.2 percent from previously 4.3 percent.
With the latest data, Jakarta's Covid-19 positivity rate for the last week was 10 percent, and it was 6.2 percent since the onset of the outbreak. The figure was above the WHO recommendation of 5 percent.
