Jakarta – The public prosecutor has demanded Habil Marati, accused of illegal firearms possession, to be sentenced to 2.5 years in prison. Prosecutors believe that Habil was proven to have provided funds for Kivlan Zen to buy illegal firearms.

From the facts of the trial, attorney P. Permana said there was a supply of funds from Habil for Kivlan Zen. Kivlan then gave the money to a man named Helmi Kurniawan a.k.a. Iwan to buy the weapons. Kivlan and Iwan are also defendants of the same case.

The prosecutors believe that Habil helped Kivlan buy the weapon. However, the United Development Party (PPP) politician denied the allegations against him.

"According to (Habil), what he did was not against the law," Permana said in the Central Jakarta District Court, Wednesday, January 22.

Earlier, the prosecutor indicted Habil of providing funds for the purchase of four firearms and 117 illegal live ammunition. Habil is accused of giving money twice; SGD15,000 in February 9, 2019, and Rp50 million in March 2019.

Kivlan Zen also denied the allegations. According to the retired general, the SGD15,000 was his own money that he used to fund a demonstration about Supersemar at the State Palace, Central Jakarta on March 12, 2019.

Meanwhile, he said, Habil wanted to help fund the event and provided Rp90 million, which was paid in two separate occasions.
