Adam Prireza, Jakarta – Kivlan Zen, who is suspected of illegal firearms possession, has filed for a pre-trial. The retired major general submitted the motion request to the South Jakarta District Court yesterday, June 19.

Kivlan's lawyer, Muhammad Yuntri, said that the decision to name his client as a suspect was wrong. "We [filed] for a pre-trial for the status of a suspect in firearms possession," Yuntri said yesterday.

According to Yuntri, Kivlan's legal team brought the warrant for investigation (SPDP). The warrant was given to Kivlan when filing a pretrial application.

The letter will be cross-examined with the SPDP sent by the police to the Jakarta Prosecutor's Office.

The Jakarta Police named Kivlan as a suspect in connection with alleged treason and possession of firearms. The firearms possession charge is linked to the naming of six people as suspected provocateurs during the protest of the presidential election results. The protests, which took place on May 21 and 22, ended in a clash between the police and demonstrators.
