Andita Rahma, Jakarta – According to the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), President Joko Widodo or Jokowi did not mention at all the issue of law enforcement, human rights, and corruption eradication in his inaugural address at the MPR building, on Sunday, October 20, 2019.

KontraS activist Rivan Lee Ananda said that from the 10-page speech read by Jokowi, not a single sentence or paragraph discusses the issue of law, human rights, and the eradication of corruption. Jokowi only focused on economic development.

"The president does not understand human rights. The concept of justice written in Nawacita seems to be limited to a subjective interpretation that does not favor victims of gross human rights violations," said Rivan Lee Ananda through a text message, Sunday, October 20 2019.

Rivan said that not discussing the issue of human rights violations past and present is a setback. He considered that Jokowi only used the human rights issues as mere items during the election campaign period.

In his speech, Jokowi explained five programs that were the focus of work in the next five years. The five programs are human resource development, continuing infrastructure development, simplifying regulations on the Employment Copyright Act and the MSME Empowerment Act, simplifying the investment bureaucracy, and economic transformation.
