Former Army Strategic Reserves Command (green berets) chief of staff retired Major General Kivlan Zen and former army Special Forces (Kopassus) commander retired Major General Soenarko have received support from the Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno election campaign team (BPN).
Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) politician Andre Rosiade says that the BPN will provide legal assistance to Zen and Soenarko.
Rosiade explained that the BPN will provide legal assistance in the same way as it helped other Prabowo supporters such as Lieus Sungkharisma, Mustofa Nahrawardhaya and Eggi Sudjana.
He stated that the legal assistance will be conducted by BPN Advocacy and Law Directorate head Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.
"Yes of course we will provide legal assistance [to them]", said Rosiade as quoted by TribunWow.com from Kompas TV on Wednesday June 12.
"Like Bang [brother] Lieus, Bang Mustofa who have already been released, their guarantor was our Advocacy and Legal Directorate [head] Bang Dasco."
"Bang Eggi Sudjana's letter of guarantee has already been submitted by Bang Dasco and also one from [Gerindra Deputy Chairperson] Bang Fadli Zon," he added.
Rosiade stated that they will soon discuss legal guarantees for Zen and Soenarko.
Zen and Soenarko have been declared suspects for alleged makar (treason, subversion, rebellion) and for the possession of illegal firearms in relation to the May 22 post-election riots in Jakarta.
"God willing Bang Dasco will soon meet with Pak [Mr] Soenarko and Pak Kivlan to discuss their guarantees", explained Rosiade.
"So essentially, God willing all of these figures who have helped Pak Prabowo up until now will of course, the BPN specifically our Advocacy and Legal Directorate will assist in the [legal] process", he asserted.
Despite this, Rosiade earlier insisted that the Prabowo camp was not involved in any way with the recent riots in Jakarta.
"I want to state explicitly that Pak Prabowo, Bang Sandi and the BPN were not involved in the May 21-22 riots", asserted Rosiade.
