Deden Abdul Aziz (Contributor), Jakarta – The West Java Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) announces that it will closely monitor social media accounts owned by Indonesian state civil apparatus (ASN) throughout the 2019 general election.

"We will monitor social media accounts belonging to ASNs considering they have to be neutral. We will act once we see ASN posting a status in the spirit of a political campaign," said West Java Bawaslu Chairman Abdullah Dahlan in Cianjur, Thursday, April 4.

Abdullah assures that the Bawaslu will also commit to monitoring the general election candidates other than ASN. "Our main domain is to guard official [social media] accounts owned by candidates listed in the election. But we will also oversee ASN's accounts to in order to preserve neutrality," he said.

However, up to this day the West Java Bawaslu has yet received reports on any general election campaign violations through social media. However, he assured that it does not stop them from constantly monitoring a social media realm.
