Hendrik Yaputra, Jakarta – The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that the death toll from the Sumatra disaster has reached 1,068. This data was recorded as of Friday, December 19, 2025, at 09:30 a.m. The latest figures were accessed directly from the BNPB Disaster Data Geoportal.

"The total number of casualties has reached 1,068," the Geoportal Disaster Data stated on Friday morning. Officials are still updating the database as field reports arrive from the three affected provinces.

Agam Regency recorded the highest number of casualties with 187 deaths. This was followed by North Aceh Regency with 169 deaths and Central Tapanuli with 131 deaths. Currently, 190 people remain missing, while approximately 7,000 people have suffered injuries.

BNPB also detailed the scale of infrastructure damage. The agency reported that 147,236 houses have been damaged. Furthermore, the disaster impacted 1,600 public facilities, 219 health facilities, 967 schools, 434 places of worship, 290 office buildings, and 145 bridges.

Flooding and landslides hit Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra at the end of November 2025. On Thursday evening, December 18, BNPB had already confirmed 1,068 deaths. The toll remains at this level for now, but officials warned it could increase because 190 people are still missing three weeks after the floods first began.

In addition to the high death toll, the agency confirmed that over 7,000 residents were injured during the disaster. The massive destruction of 147,236 homes and thousands of public facilities, including bridges and schools, has created a significant challenge for local recovery efforts.
