Vedro Imanuel Girsang, Jakarta – The Jakarta Metro Police have deployed 4,562 personnel to secure a protest in front of the Parliament building, which is expected to draw thousands of participants.

According to the Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Metro Police, Brigadier General Ade Ary Syam Indradi, security forces are stationed at various points around the protest area.

"A total of 4,562 personnel are on standby," Ade said in a written statement on Monday, September 15, 2025.

He noted that the situation remains conducive and that officers have taken their posts, even though the demonstrators have not yet arrived.

Ade stated that the security for the demonstration would be handled in a humane manner, adding, "[We] don't want to hurt the feelings of the public, but rather serve them wholeheartedly."

He also thanked the organizers for their cooperation and for providing information that helps in coordinating across institutions. Ade did not specify which groups were participating but requested time to confirm their identities.

According to information obtained by Tempo, one of the participating groups is the Association of the Progeny of Reform Pioneers. Their demands, as seen in a circulated pamphlet, include "Rejecting Police Reform" and "The Police are the Pillar of Democracy that Must Not Die."

The pamphlet lists Abjan Sa'id as the Mass Action Coordinator and Sahrul Rumau as the Field Coordinator. The organization claimed it would bring up to two thousand demonstrators to the protest.

The topic of police reform has recently become a major public discussion point, especially since President Prabowo Subianto approved the formation of a Police Reform Team. This team was proposed by several figures from the National Conscience Movement.

According to former Chairperson of the Fellowship of Churches in Indonesia (PGI) Gomar Gultom, who attended the meeting, President Prabowo "has a concept for police reform" and "will soon form a team or commission for police reform."
