Antara, Jakarta – The State Secretary Minister (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi denied rumors stating that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto had sent a presidential letter (surpres) for the replacement of the Chief of the Indonesian National Police to the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR).

"There has been no surprise [sic Surpres] sent to the DPR regarding the replacement of the national police chief, there is no such surprise," said Prasetyo Hadi on Saturday, September 13, 2025, as quoted from Antara.

Prasetyo, who also serves as the President's Spokesperson, confirmed the denial previously conveyed by the Vice Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, who also denied the existence of a surprise from Prabowo to the DPR regarding the national police chief.

The issue of a surprise replacement of the national police chief began to be widely discussed by the public since Friday, September 12, 2025. It was reported in the issue that President Prabowo had put forward the names of two candidate replacements for the Chief of Police, General Pol. Listyo Sigit, with the initials "D" and "S".

The rumors then went viral, and several netizens on their social media accounts associated these initials with Deputy Chief of Police Commissioner General Pol. Dedi Prasetyo, and Criminal Investigation Department Chief Commissioner General Pol. Syahardiantono.

President Prabowo was in Bali on Saturday afternoon after completing his official visit to Doha, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. At the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Air Force Base (Lanud) in Badung Regency, Bali, on Saturday afternoon, President Prabowo's arrival was welcomed by several officials, namely Bali Governor I Wayan Koster, TNI Commander Marshal TNI Agus Subiyanto, Regional Military Commander IX/Udayana Major General TNI Piek Budyakto, and Bali Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Daniel Adityajaya.

At the air force apron, there was no sign of Chief of the Indonesian National Police General Pol. Listyo Sigit, even though usually, the national police chief and the TNI commander are always together to send off or welcome President Prabowo's arrival.
