Nabiila Azzahra, Jakarta – The Jakarta Metro Police said the estimated losses suffered by the force due to a series of demonstrations in Jakarta stood at Rp180 billion. The public relations head at the Jakarta Metro Police, Grand Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, said the actual figure could exceed these estimated numbers.

"The damage we experienced is related to facilities or buildings," he said in a press conference at the police headquarters on late Thursday, September 4, 2025.

According to Ade Ary, the figure includes losses at resort police (polres), sectoral police (polsek), sub-sector police (polsubsektor), as well as traffic corps posts.

There were 3,430 units of materials and equipment damaged during the riots. Jakarta Metro Police also recorded 180 damaged vehicles, as well as 76 damaged facilities and buildings.

Meanwhile, the estimated losses due to the damage of public facilities in Jakarta reached Rp80 billion. "We obtained the data from our colleagues in the Jakarta Provincial Government," said Ade Ary.

43 riot suspects

The Jakarta Metro Police has identified 43 suspects who are believed to have incited the riot during the week-long protest last month. The suspects were arrested in four locations around Jakarta. Among them is a minor under the age of 18, while the rest are adults.

The police divided the 43 individuals into two clusters. One of the clusters is suspected of inciting others to join the protest. "There are six instigator suspects, and they have all been detained," said Ade Ary.

The second cluster consists of those who are suspected of damaging or vandalizing buildings, public facilities, and vehicles. The suspects in this cluster were also reported to have clashed with officers.

A total of 38 out of 43 suspects have been detained. There is still one person listed as a wanted person. There is also a suspect detained by the Cyber Crime Investigation Directorate of the Jakarta Metro Police, and two suspects who were asked to report regularly. The police did not detain a minor suspect.
