Oyuk Ivani Siagian, Jakarta – The Indonesian police name 44 suspects after raiding a conventional gambling site in Kosambi, Bandung, and arresting 63 people. The raid occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at karaoke and billiard entertainment venues that provided casino gambling facilities.
"There are already suspects with the initials AP and CW, there were approximately 18 players, and another group involved in gambling as operators, such as cashiers and card players," said West Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan as quoted in a press release on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
West Java police raided the gambling site after receiving public reports on a casino offering Niu Niu and Baccarat games. It had only been operational for three days before the raid.
The gambling venue had different areas, ranging from standard tables with a minimum bet of Rp300,000 to VIP rooms with bets starting from Rp3 million. "These VIP rooms were used by major funders who we have designated as suspects," he said.
Dozens of West Java Regional Police personnel raided the New Ballroom Billiard, Karaoke, and Live Music on Jalan Ahmad Yani No. 126, Malabar Village, Lengkong District, Bandung, in the early hours of Tuesday, June 17, 2025, under the suspicion of casino gambling facilities.
Head of the Public Relations Division of the West Java Regional Police, Grand Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, said that the gambling site was disguised as a futsal sports facility and entertainment venue. However, inside, the police found 10 gambling tables and other equipment such as dice, coin substitutes, and electronics.
The police seized several pieces of evidence including cash amounting to Rp359 million, 10 sets of casino tables for Niu Niu and Baccarat games, four bank account books, 38 mobile phones, one iPad, one cash register computer device, and a number of CCTV cameras and monitor devices.
During the raid, the police arrested 63 individuals comprising 37 employees, 23 gambling players, and three high-ranked individuals in the operation. The police are also still investigating the legality of the venue, including operational permits, the sale of alcoholic beverages, and the possibility of other criminal acts.
