Alfitria Nefi P, Jakarta – The Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) in the Indonesian State Palace, Hasan Nasbi, appealed to the public to apply health protocols following the rise in Covid-19 cases in several Asian countries. People should re-adopt habits such as washing hands before meals and using masks.

"For example, getting back into the habit of washing hands, getting used to wearing a mask when feeling unwell or having a flu, in order to prevent transmission to others," Hasan said at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

Hasan also urged the public to seek medical examination immediately if they experience symptoms such as fever, sore throat, or flu. Early detection is important. "So that later we can detect how the spread is occurring in our country," he said.

According to Hasan, the increase in Covid-19 cases in other countries should serve as a caution for the Indonesian public, even though the current situation in the country is not yet alarming.

"So this is not to scare people, but vigilance is necessary. Because we have been through an experience like this, so we have to be cautious," he said.

The Ministry of Health has issued a circular regarding vigilance against the increase in Covid-19 cases. This circular follows the increase in infections in several Asian countries, namely Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore.

"However, the transmission rate is still relatively low, and the death rate is also low," the Ministry of Health wrote in the circular signed by the Director General of Disease Prevention, Murti Utami.

In this circular, the Ministry of Health requested all healthcare facilities to reintroduce health protocols to the public. This action is similar to when the Covid-19 pandemic spread since 2020. In addition, healthcare facilities are expected to conduct mapping and implement detection as required.
