Andi Adam Faturahman, Jakarta – The deputy chief of Presidential Staff, Muhammad Qodari, said President Prabowo Subianto's administration has introduced an economic democracy transformation concept, dubbed the 'Prabowonomics.'
According to Qodari, the Prabowonomics is an economic concept based on Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution, where all natural resources are state-administered for the prosperity of the people.
"So, when discussing the economy in President Prabowo's administration, do not look elsewhere, refer back to Article 33," said Qodari while attending a cross-generation activists discussion at Hotel JS Luwansa, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
The concept itself poses a significant challenge, Qodari said, but the Prabowo government continues to strive to implement it by running impactful strategic programs for economic development.
For example, Qodari mentioned, the free nutritious meal program, the People's School development, the free health checks program, and establishing 80 thousand village cooperatives.
"Pak Prabowo continues to progress and leads by making changes through democratic means, including economic transformation," he added.
During the same discussion, Feri Amsari, a Constitutional Law Lecturer at Andalas University, said the Prabowonomics is a good economic concept, but the fact that Red and White cabinet ministers were "Jokowi's people" could pose a problem.
It would be difficult, he said, for Prabowo and his government to conduct economic acceleration and transformation if his aides were reluctant to back his ideas.
Therefore, according to Feri, the first step to achieve Prabowonomics goals is to ensure all leading economic figures in the cabinet are loyal to Prabowo. "Otherwise, what can be accelerated? After all, their ideas are different," Feri expressed.
The Wednesday discussion was attended by cross-generational activists commemorating the 27th anniversary of the Reformation.
Rusly Haris Moti, the event coordinator, stated that the discussions among activists in this event are a follow-up effort to promote democracy, but not limited to political democracy.
According to him, the current achieved political democracy must be maintained as a foundation for economic democracy transformation. "We wish for our democracy to help all people of Indonesia to gain access to the country's wealth," Moti expressed in his opening speech.
