Deden Abdul Aziz (Kontributor), Cianjur – Dozens of students from the PGRI Junior High School in Cianjur were treated at the Sayang Cianjur Regional General Hospital due to suffering from alleged food poisoning originating from the Free Nutritious Meal program (MBG), on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Previously, a total of 52 students from the State Madrasah Aliyah 1 Cianjur also suffered from poisoning after consuming MBG meals.
A non-commissioned officer from the Village Development Officer noted that 13 students from the PGRI Junior High School in Cianjur were gradually admitted to the Sayang Cianjur Regional General Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, based on the information, according to the unnamed TNI non-commissioned officer, some students were still being treated at health centers.
"Yes, according to the information, there are 13 students from the PGRI Junior High School in Cianjur being treated at Sayang Regional General Hospital due to suspected MBG poisoning. There is still temporary data indicating that some are being treated at health centers," said the non-commissioned officer. According to the information, the MBG meals supplied to the PGRI Junior High School in Cianjur originated from the Limbangansari Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), similar to those supplied to MAN 1 Cianjur.
Ridwan Abdullah, the supervisor of the Khasanah Ibu Bahagia Foundation overseeing SPPG Limbangansari, confirmed that MBG for the PGRI Junior High School in Cianjur and MAN 1 Cianjur was supplied from the same central kitchen. According to Ridwan, the production is currently temporarily stopped for all school supplies.
"Yes, the production of food for all schools supplied from SPPG Limbangansari is temporarily stopped. We are still waiting for the test results from the Cianjur District Health Laboratory," Ridwan said when contacted by Tempo on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Based on observations at the SPPG Limbangansari site on RT 03 RW O4 Limbangansari Village, Cianjur District, Cianjur Regency, West Java, the central kitchen appeared deserted. There was no cooking activity or bustling movements of kitchen staff.
Based on Ridwan's statement, the activities were halted due to ongoing examinations by several parties to investigate the cause of the poisoning. Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division of the Cianjur District Health Office, Frida Laila Yahya admitted she could not provide information regarding additional suspected poisoning cases from students of the PGRI Junior High School in Cianjur. "The report has not been submitted, only the data from MAN is complete," said Frida.
Based on the data conveyed by Frida, the situation update as of April 22, 2025, at Sayang Regional General Hospital showed 35 impacted individuals, 0 under observation, 0 being treated, and 35 discharged. Meanwhile, at Bhayangkara Regional Hospital, there were 16 affected individuals, 1 under observation, 6 being treated, and 9 discharged. "All of them were students of MAN 1 Cianjur who were previously suspected of suffering from poisoning," said Frida.
