Antara, Jakarta – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has issued a new regulation providing post-term healthcare coverage for state ministers through Presidential Regulation No. 121 of 2024. The law guarantees health maintenance services for ministers who have completed their terms, except those convicted of criminal charges or who resign due to legal cases before a final verdict.
The regulation also extends health benefits to former Cabinet Secretaries and their spouses. Coverage includes promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative, and palliative services, adjusted according to medical needs, age, and length of service.
Under the rule, former ministers or Cabinet Secretaries under 60 years old will receive health benefits for twice their term length, while those aged 60 and above are granted lifelong coverage.
The healthcare services will be provided at government or state-owned facilities, with premiums funded by the state budget.
The regulation, signed by President Jokowi on October 15, 2024, took effect immediately after its issuance.
