Theressia Silalahi, Jakarta – Prioritizing family over politics, Kaesang Pangarep confirms he will accompany his pregnant wife, Erina Gudono, to the US for her master's program at UPenn, stepping back from the 2024 regional elections.
"My answer is to accompany my wife," Kaesang stated when asked about his potential run for office in the 2024 elections.
Kaesang had been encouraged by the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party, the National Democrat (Nasdem) Party, and the Golkar Party to consider running as a deputy governor for Jakarta or Central Java. However, his focus is now on supporting Erina during this significant period.
Erina, who is also expecting their first child, will start her master's program at UPenn in August. She recently announced on Instagram that she has been accepted into the program and awarded a scholarship.
"Alhamdulillah, I applied last year and was accepted into several master's programs. After careful consideration, I will begin my studies at UPenn next month, thanks to a scholarship," Erina wrote, also expressing her gratitude to Kaesang, who is President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's son, for his unwavering support.
