Yustinus Patris Paat, Jakarta – The transition team of President-Elect Prabowo Subianto met with Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati on Friday, marking their first known effort to prepare for the government takeover scheduled for October 20.
The team, known as the Synchronization Task Force, is led by Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, the acting chairman of Prabowo's Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra).
"This task force has been assigned by the president-elect to coordinate with all ministries in preparation for the new government, which will assume office on October 20," said Ahmad Muzani, another Gerindra executive who serves as the deputy chairman of the transition team.
Muzani said that Prabowo aims to avoid a lengthy transition process and intends to begin work immediately upon his inauguration as the country's eighth president, alongside elected Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
"The future government wants to swiftly implement the programs that were central to their election campaign," Muzani said.
The team was welcomed by Sri Mulyani, who pledged to fully coordinate with the incoming government, with permission from incumbent President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.
"We are pleased and open to coordinate with the transition team because the Finance Ministry is tasked with drafting the 2025 State Budget, which will serve as the foundation for the next government under President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran to implement their programs," Sri Mulyani said.
