Heru Andriyanto, Jakarta – Presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo pledged on Sunday that he will construct at least one healthcare center in every village across Indonesia should he emerge victorious in the Feb. 14 election.

During the presidential debate in Jakarta, the former Central Java governor expressed his unwavering commitment to providing access to robust healthcare services for the most vulnerable groups of the population, including children, women, the elderly, disabled persons, and indigenous people.

"All must have equal access to healthcare services," Ganjar said on the debate stage, which he shared with rival candidates Prabowo Subianto and Anies Baswedan at the Jakarta Convention Center.

Ganjar mentioned a focus on preventive measures such as promoting healthy lifestyles and providing nutritious food. He underscored the importance of ensuring that every citizen, including those in the most remote villages, has access to medical services.

"That's why we plan to establish a healthcare service in every village," Ganjar said.

The debate covered main themes such as health, culture, education, human resources, employment, and people's welfare.

Ganjar recalled his direct engagement with ordinary people, recounting instances of staying overnight at their homes to hear firsthand about their needs and expectations from the government. For example, labor unions have been advocating for revisions to the job creation law, which they argue currently favors employers over workers.

"We listened to them directly when we stayed at their homes. The people are my masters, and the presidency is their mandate," Ganjar concluded.
