Aisyah Amira Wakang, Jakarta – Acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono confirmed that the smart city super app JAKI was being fixed after being hacked. "It's being repaired," he said after inspecting the cleaning of the Krukut River in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, Dec. 13.
The JAKI app was allegedly hacked after former Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan boasted about the provincial government's digital innovation during the first presidential debate at the KPU on Tuesday night, Dec. 12.
During the debate, Anies highlighted JAKI, one of his innovative programs when serving as Jakarta Governor. He said the super app is a solution to improve public services.
The hacker claimed that he hacked the app to prove its poor management.
"We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the technical problems occurring in the JAKI application," Jakarta Smart City wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday morning, Dec. 13.
Heru Budi was reluctant to comment on the connection between the hacking of the app and Anies' remarks at last night's debate. "I don't understand yet," he said shortly as he hurried to his car.
The JAKI app is a digital system that is part of Jakarta Smart City. Under Anies' leadership era, the app won a gold medal at the ASEAN ICT Awards (AICTA) competition in the public sector category and an award at the 2022 Digital Innovation Award (DIA).
With JAKI, people in Jakarta can find out information about the capital including weather and food, and submit reports about worrisome issues, such as damaged roads.
