Riani Sanusi Putri, Jakarta – Investment Minister and the Head of Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia along with the Financing and Investment Deputy Board of the IKN Authority attended the ASEAN Investment Forum 2023 with the theme of "Investment for Sustainable Development".

The minister and deputy participated with the purpose of creating opportunities to invest in IKN (Nusantara State Capital).

"[Indonesia] offers the opportunity to various parties to invest [in IKN] by considering comparative advantage," said Bahlil in his statement on Monday, September 4, 2023. According to Bahlil, comparative advantages are applied since Indonesia involves its MSMEs in its investment scheme.

AIF 203 is held in Lagoon Garden Hall in Sultan Hotel, South Jakarta on Saturday, September 2, 2023. The event is a collaborative program between ASEAN, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the BKPM.

The event is intended to boost investment cooperation between countries, especially ASEAN members, including investment in IKN.

Bahlil has visited the booth of IKN Authority with the Secretary General of ASEAN Kao Kim Hourn and several other ministerial members of ASEAN. The entourage listened to the presentation on the development of IKN which applied the sustainability principle.

Previously, the Secretary General of ASEAN Kao Kim Hourn mentioned that ASEAN's development could be attributed to active collaboration from its members. Hourn hopes AIF to be a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas in bolstering sustainable development in ASEAN.

According to Hourn, ASEAN is one of the biggest FDI receivers globally. Meanwhile, BKPM noted that ASEAN was ranked 2nd, reaching a record-breaking US$224.2 million of foreign direct investment last year.
