Riri Rahayu, Jakarta – The Head of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, announced that the construction of the Vice President's Palace at IKN in East Kalimantan has reached 43 percent completion. This Phase I construction project encompasses the Vice President's office, residence, secretariat, and security barracks.
"The structure is completed; only the architectural work and bulletproof glass remain," Basuki said at IKN on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, as cited from the IKN Public Relations documentation video.
Basuki targets the completion of the first phase of the Vice President's Palace by December 2025. The former Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) also confirmed that Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka will have his office at the new capital once its construction is finalized.
Accompanied by Basuki, East Kalimantan Governor Rudy Mas'ud indicated that Gibran is expected to begin working at the new capital in 2026. "God willing. Please pray for it," he added.
Gibran visited IKN on Wednesday, May 28, inspecting several key projects. His itinerary included the IKN Toll Road Project Segment 5B, the Abdi Waluyo Hospital project, the construction of Gunadarma University, Hermina Hospital, the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, the ASN 1 Apartment, the National Mosque and Basilica area, as well as the Vice President's Palace.
On the second day of his visit, Thursday, May 29, Gibran planted ironwood trees in Plaza Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. He was joined by the Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, who also planted camphor trees during the event.
