Djibril Muhammad & Antara, Jakarta – Heavy rain that has been pouring over the capital city of Jakarta since Saturday has caused flooding in several areas. Dozens of neighborhood units (RT) in West Jakarta, East Jakarta, and South Jakarta were submerged in floodwaters up to 200 cm.
According to the Data and Information Center of the Jakarta Disaster Management Agency, on Sunday, July 6, flooding affected 53 RT. However, by Monday, the flood had spread to additional areas including West Jakarta.
Details of the flood-affected areas:
West Jakarta with four RTs: Duri Kosambi (30 cm), Sukabumi Utara (50 cm), and Sukabumi Selatan (100 cm).
South Jakarta with 27 RTs: Tanjung Barat (40 cm), Pengadegan (110 cm), Rawa Jati (50-120 cm), Pejaten Timur (60-100 cm), Kebon Baru (60 cm), and Manggarai (55-80 cm).
East Jakarta with 30 RTs: Bidara Cina (180-210 cm), Kampung Melayu (155 cm), Balekambang (50 cm), Cawang (270 cm), and Cililitan (190 cm).
Meanwhile, in West Jakarta, four roads were also flooded with water levels between 10-18 cm, including Jalan Perumahan Green Garden Kedoya Utara (15 cm), Jalan Adi Karya Kedoya Selatan (10 cm), Jalan Raya Kembangan Kembangan Selatan (15 cm), and Gang H Musanif Kedaung Kali Angke (18 cm).
Several residents in Jati Padang Village, Pasar Minggu District, South Jakarta, were forced to evacuate to Al Ridwan Mosque due to flooding in the area.
"Currently, evacuation is only taking place in the Jati Padang area," said Sukendar, Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency Task Force Coordinator for South Jakarta, on Monday as quoted by Antara.
He explained that flooding in the area was caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Sarua connecting canal. One neighborhood unit in Jati Padang was submerged with water reaching 80 centimeters, affecting 23 families or approximately 75 residents.
According to data from the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency as of 08:00 a.n., a total of 27 RTs in South Jakarta were reported to be flooded due to heavy rainfall and the overflow of several rivers.
Details of the affected areas are as follows:
- Tanjung Barat Village: 1 RT affected, water level 40 cm (overflow of Ciliwung River).
- Pela Mampang Village: 13 RTs, water level 50-150 cm (overflow of Krukut River).
- Pengadegan Village: 2 RTs, water level 30 cm.
- Rawajati Village: 7 RTs, water level 80-100 cm (overflow of Ciliwung River).
- Pejaten Timur Village: 4 RTs, water level 50 cm (overflow of Ciliwung River).
