Septia Ryanthie, Solo – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government planned to build a cardiology hospital in Solo, Central Java. Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka said that the healthcare center will be opened in the Solo Technopark or STP area.
Gibran said the Solo city government had prepared around two hectares of land in the Solo Technopark area. Currently, his side is in the process of obtaining permits for the construction project.
"Representatives from UAE have inspected the location in Solo Technopark and are discussing the continuation of yesterday's visit to STP. It will be built in STP, about 2 hectares behind the blue building," Gibran said to reporters at the Alila Solo Hotel on Thursday, July 20, 2023.
Gibran recalled that the UAE government and the Solo government initially intended to revamp the Regional Hospital (RSUD) in the city. However, the plan was revised to establish a cardiology hospital. "We cancel [the plan] to upgrade the hospital, it will be a cardiology hospital," he said.
Gibran added that the hospital will not only conduct cardiology practice but also be developed for cancer treatment. He said the establishment of the hospital was based on market demand for cardiology services. The construction project was expected to commence later this year.
The President Joko Widodo or Jokowi's eldest son ensured that the hospital would be of international standard. Yet Mayor Gibran Rakabuming stopped short of revealing the name. "Yes, it's an international hospital."
